The News on Terri Schiavo
The full page ad in the Tampa Tribune that Blogs for Terri raised money for, appeared yesterday. You can see it here.
Blogs for Terri also has another "Bloggers Best" up this morning.
Michael Reagan (yes the son of Ronald!) has gone ahead and called it murder. He does what I stopped just short of in my Bloggers Best entry above.
Blogs for Terri also links to an almost 5 minute video of Terri. This video was made in defiance of a court order which I find most troubling -- both the order AND the defiance. The video is heart rending. It illustrates two things: Terri's utter frustration at her condition, and her very conscious, very responsive state. Some might side with her husband on the basis of the frustration evidenced -- I do not. As I said earlier we lack sufficient evidence to know that death would be Terri's wish under these circumstances, and even if we grant that it is, I doubt seriously she would want it through starvation. We cannot afford, as a people, to condone that taking of life simply because someone, or several someone's, do not think that life is good. That is a road to genocide.
Finally Scrappleface, in their usually edgy sarcastic manner, makes some good points. These three pieces bite quite a bit, and it hurts a little, but they make good points. Especially the one about Michael selling Terri on EBay. This is one of the other two, and this is the final one.
Prayer remains the best weapon.
