An expert panel tasked with resolving disagreement over what is and isn't a planet has recommended that astronomers qualify that term with another word.
I have to be honest, this stuff cracks me up. The debate rages about the discovery earlier this year of what was initially called a "tenth planet" in our solar system. The debate actually surrounds the designation about the new planet
and Pluto. But here is the thing -- any person my age has
known Pluto was a planet since elementary school. I'm betting this is more about
not wanting someone to get the fame associated with a 10th planet discovery than a genuine scientific dispute.
