Answering A Question I Haven't Been Asked
Hugh Hewitt has assembled a great team of people to answer the layman's questions he asks on OneTrueGodBlog, and I am not one of them. Regardless, I love the latest question and want to take a shot.
Please recommend the five books you would have a Christian college student read who was interested in deepening his or her faith but who also had all the time constraints and background education of most college kids today. (In other words, no Summa Theologica or Institutes.)Constraint I have set for myself -- no textbooks.
- Mere Christianity - CS Lewis
- Knowing God by JI Packer
- The Pleasures Of God by John Piper
- Church History In Plain Language by Bruce Shelley
- How To Read A Book by Mortimer Adler - while not strictly about Christianity this book is an invaluable tool to learning how to read and study the Bible.
Well, what do you think of my list? Have you read them?
