His Blessing

John Mark Reynolds "pens" a modern psalm of praise ,wonder and worship. Some key excerpts:
Like the knowledge that I must die, the reality of God is so final and so complete that my unprepared mind hides it. In order to be ready to see it, to contemplate Him, I must prepare and do the small things, the little steps to holiness, that will make me ready for that ultimate realization.

God is so great that giving Him the kingdom is too little. I cannot cede to Him what is smaller than He deserves. His cosmos is beyond contempt compared to His divine essence. The entire universe gains its small value in being His creation, the result of His blessing. It is the result of His Blessing and it is the Blessing that is truly great and not the cosmos.

And yet God created all things by His Blessing. The bigness is greatness of Love. The terror is the joy of a wedding day. God is Love and He blesses us.
What I really love about this post is that JMR CELEBRATES our insignificance as compared to our Lord. So often it seems that we celebrate our significance, when in fact we have none. God may grant us signifcance by virtue of His love and blessing, but it is still His significance that we enjoy, it is not our own.

I am incresingly convinced that the key to Christian maturity lies almost exclusively in coming to understand our own insignificance. All that we enjoy, we enjoy by virtue of His blessing, the sooner we comes to grips with that, the sooner we will enjoy the fullness of those blessings. Blessings that will often appear quite different than our expectations, because He knows better what blesses than we know ourselves.
